This calculator estimates the balance at the end of a number of years if you deposit the same amount every year. Because the real PPF interest depends on the exact dates of your deposits, the result is an estimate. Always confirm the current rate and rules with the official sources listed below.

Frequently asked questions

How is PPF interest calculated?

Interest is worked out every month on the lowest balance in the account between the 5th and the end of that month, and it is credited once a year. This calculator simplifies that to yearly compounding.

How long is the PPF lock-in?

The standard maturity is 15 years, and the account can be extended in blocks of five years. Check the current scheme rules for the conditions.

What is the yearly deposit limit?

The scheme sets a minimum and a maximum yearly deposit. Check the current limits with the official sources before you plan your deposits.

Is the PPF interest rate fixed?

No. The rate is set by the government and reviewed periodically. The rate in the calculator is an editable example.
